Privacy notice
Last updated 7 October 2026.
manualforcourtsmartial.com is a free public reference. Reading it requires no account and no cookies. This notice describes the little the site does collect.
Reading the site
- Server logs. The hosting provider keeps standard web-server logs (IP address, requested URL, browser identification, time) for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.
- Analytics. Anonymous page views on the production site may be measured with Google Analytics, which sets its own cookies. It is not loaded for signed-in users. You can block it with any content blocker without affecting the site.
- No advertising, no tracking pixels, no sale or sharing of data.
The MCP connector
When an AI assistant (Claude, ChatGPT, Grok or another MCP client) calls this site’s MCP server, the site records for each tool call: the tool name, how long it took, whether it succeeded, a shortened error message if it failed, the first three parts of the calling IP address, and the name and version the client program reports for itself. Hosted assistants call from their provider’s servers, so that address identifies the provider, not you. The arguments of the call (a rule number, a search phrase, dates) are processed to answer it and are not stored. Nothing else from your conversation reaches this site. The connector log is deleted after 90 days.
Contributor accounts
- If you create an account to propose edits, the site stores the username, display name, name, organisation and position you enter, an optional e-mail address, a one-way hash of your password (never the password itself), and the date of your last sign-in.
- Signing in sets a session cookie; choosing “remember me” sets a second cookie valid for 30 days. Both are removed when you sign out.
- Edits and proposals you make are attributed to your username in the public change history, which is the point of the contribution model.
- Failed sign-in attempts are counted briefly by address and username to prevent password guessing, then discarded.
Third parties
Pages load the Bootstrap stylesheet and icons from a public content-delivery network, which sees the ordinary request data a web server sees. Links to external sources (the DoD forms site, the Army Benchbook, court websites) take you to those sites and their own policies.
Your choices
You can read everything here without an account. You can delete your contributor account, or ask for it to be deleted, at any time; your past edits remain in the public history under your username, as the site’s record of who changed what.
